Welcome to Missouri Mondays.

COMMEMORATE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE’S DAY - Most of the indigenous people who once inhabited land in what is now Missouri were forced to leave and resettle in Indian Territory (present-day Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Kansas) during the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Take a moment to learn about the Indigenous people who inhabited Missouri here: https://libguides.jeffco.edu/missouritribes

URGENT NEED TO HELP STOP RIGGED MAPS POWER GRAB - We consider this effort the highest priority action to save our democracy! There is a very narrow window (now to early December) for Missourians to collect over 100K signatures to put a citizen’s referendum on the ballot. Check out volunteer opportunities below and find more information at peoplenotpoliticiansmo.org,  Choose  “Take Action” to sign up to receive more information about upcoming trainings and signature gathering actions with the campaign.

PROTECT MAJORITY RULE - Respect Missouri Voters is a grassroots, volunteer-led campaign working to protect the citizen initiative process and make our government work for everyday Missourians. Help collect signatures for a state constitutional amendment to protect majority rule in Missouri. See details below and visit their website for more information and volunteer opportunities: https://respectmovoters.org/

*INDIVISIBLE EVENT - Welcome Senator Eric Schmitt to Clay County

Mon Oct 13

4PM – 6PM

US-169 & NW 188th St.

Smithville, MO 64089

Sen. Eric Schmitt refuses to hold a town hall meeting for his Missouri constituents but he WILL be in Clay County to promote his book and speak to a select few at the Herzog Foundation in Smithville. The Herzog Foundation is focused on expanding "Christ-centered K12 education" (a/k/a the school-choice movement), otherwise known as using public tax dollars to support private schools. There is a public right-of-way near the Herzog Foundation where we can gather and exercise our First Amendment rights to speak out and stand up in opposition to all that Eric Schmitt represents. Bring your signs, noise makers and above all, your voice. We will provide additional information regarding logistics and parking to all who register for the event.

HIGHEST PRIORITY!  STOP RIGGED MAP POWER GRAB!

People Not Politicians MO - Citizen’s Referendum - Fight illegal gerrymandered maps!

*What is the People Not Politicians Missouri campaign about –

  • Missouri politicians passed an illegal gerrymandering scheme that is nothing more than an unconstitutional power grab.

  • *We believe that Missouri voters—not politicians—should have the final say.

  • *We have filed a citizen’s referendum to gather signatures to put this unjust map before voters on an upcoming ballot.

  • *Missourians deserve representation that focuses on our families and communities, not advancing a specific partisan political agenda.

  • *Politicians shouldn’t be slicing and dicing communities to pick their voters — voters should be picking their politicians.

  • *Gerrymanders take away voters’ power and cause real harm to Missouri communities.

  • *TAKE ACTION NOW! Get trained/Collect signatures/Get Signatures Notarized - Sign up for events listed below or find sign ups for multiple locations and dates here: https://www.mobilize.us/pnpmo

IMMIGRATION KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAINING / VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Advocates for Immigrants Rights and Reconciliation (AIRR) provides “Know Your Rights” training for community members who are directly impacted by immigration policies. No matter where you were born or what your immigration status is, you have rights under the constitution. During this training, we will review people's constitutional rights. AIRR’s goal is to educate, train and empower as many community members as possible to feel confident with their knowledge of their due process rights in order to exercise them to keep themselves and their families safe. This training also offers a plan of action when a person is detained. Additionally, AIRR offers Know Your Rights to allies and service providers on how to better protect the community they serve.

*Find more information about AIRR Know Your Rights training here:  https://airrkc.org/know-your-rights
