“Today’s rulings by the Missouri Supreme Court unanimously affirm what the plain language of Missouri’s Constitution makes clear: that THE PEOPLE of Missouri retain the power to propose or reject laws. Today’s rulings are a win for direct democracy in Missouri, and a reminder to the nation that democracy only survives when the voters have a voice.
Missourians across the political spectrum have exercised their voices through the citizen and referendum process for more than a century. Here in Missouri and across the nation we have seen attacks on direct democracy weaponized for political gain. Missouri’s chief elections official should take the court’s affirmation of citizen rights to direct democracy as a reminder that his responsibility is to the voters of Missouri, who, in light of today’s court rulings, will finally be able to make their voices heard this November on matters of importance to them.

Voters deserve the final say on the laws that govern us. Amendment 6 protects and strengthens our freedom to pass laws through the citizen initiative petition process. Written by everyday Missourians, AMENDMENT 6 guarantees honest ballots, ensures respect for voters, and protects our right to use the initiative process.
The Missouri Supreme Court ruled in our favor, officially securing Amendment 6 on the November ballot. This is a huge win, but we only cross the finish line if a majority of Missourians vote YES on 6. With just 8 weeks left, we need your help to educate voters in every corner of the state. As a grassroots movement, we have the power to directly appeal to voters through face-to-face conversations. We need as many volunteers as we can get to spread the word. It all starts this weekend at our statewide canvassing launch. Special “limited edition” yard signs will also be available for purchase at all canvassing events.
