It was such an uplifting week here in Missouri! Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Good Trouble Lives On Teach! Reach! Preach! events honoring the life and legacy of Congressman John Lewis. Whether you helped organize, volunteered on-site, or participated with your time and presence, we are so grateful!
Missouri Action Alliance was honored to join Missouri Voter Protection Coalition (MOVPC) in co-sponsoring Kansas City Reach Good Trouble LIves On! event at the historic Swope Park Bandstand. Special thanks to the extraordinary leadership of Denise Lieberman, MOVPC Director and General Counsel, to Sophie Kunin, MOVPC Advocacy and Organizing Manager (KC) for her phenomenal organization and coordination of multiple events! Kansas City’s impressive list of partner organizations and performers include: League of Women Voters Kansas City, Jackson, Platte, Clay Counties, Heartland Alliance for Progress, Communities Creating Opportunity, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, Strengthening Education Together, Black Archives of Mid-America, The National Congress of Black Women, Comprehensive Arts Institute Jazz Band, Indivisible Kansas City (IKC) Chorus, Missouri Workers Center, MO Jobs with Justice, Abortion Action Missouri, Show Up Missouri, Planned Parenthood, and more.
Before his death on July 17, 2020, John Lewis wrote an essay titled, “Together, You Can Redeem the Soul of Our Nation” challenging us to continue his peaceful work promoting participation in democracy and protecting the precious right to vote.
“Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America by getting in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble. Voting and participating in the democratic process are key. The vote is the most powerful nonviolent change agent you have in a democratic society. You must use it because it is not guaranteed. You can lose it.”

JUL 21 - No-Excuse absentee voting (In-person) BEGINS
JUL 22 - Absentee ballot request deadline - last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot
AUG 3 - No-Excuse absentee voting (In-person) ENDS
AUG 4 - Election Day - LAST DAY TO VOTE - Polls open 6 AM - 7 PM - Bring valid photo ID

Another photo ID issued by the United States or the state of Missouri, which is either not expired *or expired after November 5, 2024, the date of the last federal election - every 2 years in November
