🚨NO TAX HIKES! NO on HCS HJRs 173 & 174!
📣Tell your MO State Representative to vote NO on HCS HJRs 173 & 174!

Short Description HCS HJRs 173 & 174 - “Upon voter approval, if under current law, income tax rate falls below 1.4%, state income tax will be eliminated by 2031, and sales tax may be increased/expanded to make up for the income deficit.”
📣 Key Proposal Details HCS HJRs 173 & 174
🚩The proposal is to phase out the state’s individual income tax and replace the revenue by expanding the sales tax base.
🗳️Voter Approval Required: If passed by the legislature, the plan would go before voters on the August or November 2026 ballot.
🚩Gradual Phase-Out: The individual income tax (currently 4.7%) would be reduced based on revenue "triggers".
🚩The rate would drop by 0.01 percentage points for every $20 million increase in net general revenue over the 2025 base year.
🚩The tax would be fully eliminated once the rate falls below 1.4%, with a target end date as early as January 1, 2032.
❌ Expanded Sales Tax: To offset the loss of income tax revenue, lawmakers would be authorized to tax more services and digital goods (e.g., streaming services, accounting fees) that are currently exempt.
❌ Raising revenue by sales tax is a regressive tax because it burdens those with less income equally to the burden on those more able to pay
❌ Life will be more expensive for nearly all Missourians.

The new S.A.V.E. Act already passed the U.S. House and is now in the Senate.
This law could keep millions from voting! If passed, the new S.A.V.E. Act would:
❌Require Americans to provide documentary proof of citizenship - either a passport or an original copy of their birth certificate - when registering to vote, and any time they update their voter registration. More than 21 Million American citizens don't have access to those documents.
❌ Especially burden military voters, tribal voters, rural voters, survivors of natural disasters, communities of color, and married women who have changed their last names.
