Welcome to Missouri Mondays.
Governor Kehoe signed HB 1, the gerrymandered Congressional district maps into law on Sunday and released this statement, shamelessly saying the quiet parts out loud–
“I was proud to officially sign the Missouri First Map into law today ahead of the 2026 midterm election,” said Governor Kehoe. “Missourians are more alike than we are different, and our values, across both sides of the aisle, are closer to each other than those of the congressional representation of states like New York, California, and Illinois. We believe this map best represents Missourians, and I appreciate the support and efforts of state legislators, our congressional delegation, and President Trump in getting this map to my desk.”
THIS IS NOT OKAY! Our Governor and the MO GOP majority legislature are bowing to the demands of a dictator, slicing and dicing our Congressional districts for their political advantage ahead of the 2026 election, not based on any legitimate extraordinary changes in census data.
WHAT CAN WE DO? We consider this effort the highest priority action to save our democracy! There is a very narrow window (now to early December) for Missourians to collect over 100K signatures across the state for a citizen’s referendum.

We will be gathering signatures at polling locations during the Jackson County elections. Shifts are 4 hours long: 3 hours collecting signatures and 1 hour for notarization and turn-in.
Training will be required prior to joining for signature gathering at polling locations. Signature gathering is underway! Respect Missouri Voters is a grassroots, volunteer-led campaign working to protect the citizen initiative process and make our government work for everyday Missourians. IMMIGRATION KNOW YOUR RIGHTS TRAINING / VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Advocates for Immigrants Rights and Reconciliation (AIRR) provides “Know Your Rights” training for community members who are directly impacted by immigration policies. No matter where you were born or what your immigration status is, you have rights under the constitution. During this training, we will review people's constitutional rights. AIRR’s goal is to educate, train and empower as many community members as possible to feel confident with their knowledge of their due process rights in order to exercise them to keep themselves and their families safe. This training also offers a plan of action when a person is detained. Additionally, AIRR offers Know Your Rights to allies and service providers on how to better protect the community they serve.
