08/12/24 Missouri Mondays - We have 85 days until November 5 to take action and make history in Missouri! Find out how to be part of it!
Welcome to Missouri Mondays!
The primary election is over and it’s on to November! Here’s some food for thought for Missouri voters as we head into these next 85 days–
Republicans have held majorities in the Missouri Senate and House for more than 20 years and the Governor’s office since 2016. Their policies and tax cuts have been great for corporations and big money interests but disastrous for everyday Missourians. Our state ranks at or near the bottom of all 50 states in teacher pay and in quality of life measures such as voting rights, crime, and reproductive rights.
In November, Missouri voters can decide to change course and even make history. Missouri can be the first state to overturn a cruel near total abortion ban with no exceptions for victims of rape or incest. Voters can elect Missouri’s first female Governor, Crystal Quade, a leader and reproductive rights champion for years in the MO legislature, where she also fought for strong public schools, raising teacher salaries, expanding and protecting voting access, addressing gun violence so our communities will be safer and lives will be protected, and more. Voters can also fill the legislature with candidates who share those same values and will join her in making lives better.
In order to make the change we want to see, we need to take action NOW!
**Help candidates win in November. Volunteer your time. Make a donation. Together we can make a difference. Check out our list of candidates with links to their campaigns here:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YWPoO300-K4QWinuVdJ_9LR-Hei7rv_ODoEIbeCebUY/edit?usp=sharing

HELP ELECT KAMALA HARRIS AND TIM WALZ!
There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: At the ballot box. Help us get our message out to the American people!
Meet VP Kamala Harris
“As the daughter of parents who brought her to civil rights marches in a stroller, she was inspired to tackle injustice from an early age. She took that mission to county courtrooms, the California Attorney General’s office, the United States Senate, and the White House.
Now she is running for President of the United States to continue protecting our freedoms, delivering justice, and expanding opportunity so that every American can not just get by, but get ahead.” Read more about VP Kamala Harris here: https://kamalaharris.com/meet-kamala-harris/
Meet Governor Tim Walz
“Governor Walz is a champion for America’s working families. He enlisted in the Army National Guard when he turned 17 and served for 24 years, rising to the rank of Command Sergeant Major. After attending college thanks to the GI Bill, Tim Walz served his community as a high school teacher and football coach – taking his team to the state championship for the first time in the school’s history. He became a member of Congress in a Republican district by representing the needs of farmers and rural America. As Governor, Tim Walz cut taxes for working families, lowered the cost of insulin and eliminated junk fees, and protected women’s right to choose. That experience makes him the ideal running mate for Kamala Harris, who has taken on the big banks, led the fight for reproductive freedom, and stood with our allies against Putin’s aggression during her time as a prosecutor, Attorney General, Senator, and Vice President.” Read more about Governor Tim Walz here: https://kamalaharris.com/meet-governor-tim-walz/

TAKE ACTION FOR MARCELLUS WILLIAMS!
“Marcellus Williams is scheduled to be executed on Sept. 24, for a crime he did not commit. DNA evidence proves Marcellus Williams is innocent.”
Marcellus Williams is scheduled to be executed on Sept. 24 for a crime DNA proves he did not commit. The St. Louis County prosecuting attorney reviewed these DNA results and filed a motion to vacate Mr. Williams’ conviction because he believed the DNA results proved by clear and convincing evidence that Mr. Williams did not commit this crime. Although the circuit court has not yet scheduled a hearing to address this motion — and no court has ever considered the new exculpatory evidence — the Missouri Supreme Court set an execution date for Mr. Williams.”
