On Friday, the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus held a press conference in Kansas City to rally against the potential plan to unfairly redraw Missouri’s congressional map. The President has urged Republican governors to redraw congressional maps to gain GOP advantage, calling on Gov. Kehoe to specifically target Congressman Emanuel Cleaver’s Kansas City-based 5th District, traditionally a Democratic stronghold.
“Your voice matters. Your vote matters. We will fight to ensure you have both protected,” said MO State Representative Michael Johnson, leader of the Legislative Black Caucus.”
“We need these folks to know this is completely, completely unacceptable,” said Rep. Mark Sharp, a Democrat from south Kansas City.”
“Gov. Kehoe has not yet formally asked legislators to change the maps. His spokesperson said Kehoe had several conversations with the Trump administration about redistricting.
"Under the circumstances, if you stay ready, you don't have to get ready,” Johnson said about his caucus preparing in advance of a potential special session.” KSHB Aug 8

We meet every Thursday at 1:30 on the Southeast corner of 9th and Oak. Sometimes we walk down to 10th and Oak where more cars drive by. Small groups of people can go into the Federal Courthouse and try to talk to staffers - no signs allowed in the courthouse but bring your best signs for visibility outside!
