Welcome to Missouri Mondays.

Last week the Missouri GOP supermajority abruptly shut down good faith negotiations with Democrats in order to–

  • Overturn 1.6 million yes votes on Prop A, GUTTING earned paid sick leave benefits and removing Consumer Price Index increases for minimum wage

“We live under the boot of autocracy and oligarchy and the citizens of Missouri live and work under the whim of a GOP supermajority. The GOP will stand with the wealthy donors who fill their coffers to keep sick pay and a higher minimum wage away from working people. Missouri Republicans overturn our will and our vote and stand against working people.  They don’t care.”  Jessica Piper - The View from Rural Missouri

“Missourians support access to abortion. This past November more than 1.5 million Missourians made their voices heard at the ballot box - voting to enshrine abortion rights into the Missouri constitution,” said Mallory Schwarz, Executive Director of Abortion Action Missouri. “And right now, thanks to Missourians, abortion is legal and available for the first time in years. Despite this, today anti-abortion politicians passed HJR 73, showing us they think Missourians are disposable. We know the truth - Missourians are used to fighting back and are prepared to keep showing up. In the past 4 months, thousands of Missourians have shown up over and over again to defend the will of the people. Do not underestimate their determination.” ACLU Missouri

We are tired but not done fighting! “The power of the people is greater than the people in power.”
