🚨TAKE ACTION!

Voting Rights Bills Moving in MOLeg - MOVPC Newsletter March 16

🔎Find your legislator here:  https://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/Default

HB 3146 - PASSED HOUSE & SENT TO SENATE (would prevent courts from rewriting ballot summary language until having SOS take three additional tries; condenses time for challenges to summary to be finalized )  Tell your Senator to vote NO!

HB2592 PASSED HOUSE & SENT TO SENATE (restore voting rights to those on probation and parole)   Tell your Senator to vote YES!

HB 2125 PASSED HOUSE & SENT TO SENATE (requires data matching with DOR to include citizenship info; reinstates SOS's investigation and subpoena power)

Tell your Senator to vote NO!

HB1812 - PASSED HOUSE & SENT TO SENATE (Requires the department of health and senior services to notify the SOS of all death certificates and the SOS to notify the relevant local election authority)   Tell your Senator to vote NO!

HB1871 - ON CALENDAR FOR PERFECTION IN HOUSE (expands no-excuse absentee voting; allows provisional voting for all elections)

Tell your Representative to vote YES!

HB2124 - PUBLIC HEARING HELD (places limitations on petition circulators, including requiring them to be US Citizens and Missouri residents, limits ballot language challenge to Missouri voters, prohibits being paid based on number of signatures collected) Tell your Representative to vote NO!

URGENT! ACT NOW! - STATEWIDE

🚨NO SALES TAXES ON EVERYTHING!

📣Tell your MO State Senator to VOTE NO! on HCS HJRs 173 & 174!

🔎Find your legislator here:  https://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/Default

The MO House passed HCS HJRs 173 & 174 and now it is in the MO Senate.

🚩The proposal is to PHASE OUT the state’s individual income tax and REPLACE REVENUE by expanding the sales tax base!  Raising taxes ON EVERYTHING!

‼️ Expanded Sales Tax: To offset the loss of income tax revenue, lawmakers would be authorized to tax more services and digital goods (e.g., streaming services, accounting fees) that are currently exempt.

❌Raising revenue by sales tax is REGRESSIVE because it especially burdens those with less income and least able to afford the higher cost.

❌ Life will be MORE $$EXPENSIVE for nearly ALL Missourians.

🗳️Voter Approval Required: If passed by the legislature, the plan would go before voters on the August or November 2026 ballot.

🚨TELL SEN. HAWLEY & SEN. SCHMITT - VOTE NO ON THE NEW S.A.V.E. ACT!

☎️ Phone: (833-346-1779)

🔥The new S.A.V.E. Act already passed the U.S. House and is now in the U.S. Senate. This law could keep MILLIONS from voting! If passed, the new S.A.V.E. Act would:

❌Require Americans to provide documentary proof of citizenship - either a passport or an original copy of their birth certificate - when registering to vote, and any time they update their voter registration. More than 21 Million American citizens don't have access to those documents.

❌ Especially burden military voters, tribal voters, rural voters, survivors of natural disasters, communities of color, and married women who have changed their last names.

SAT MARCH 28 - KANSAS CITY

📌 INDIVISIBLE KANSAS CITY - ❌👑 NO KINGS 3.0

📅 Saturday, March 28

⏰ Noon

⏰Speakers beginning at 1 pm.  March begins at 2 pm.

📍Mill Creek Park (Plaza), Kansas City, MO

We are showing up together again on March 28. When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. America does not belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires, or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, the people.

Last October's No Kings 2.0 at Mill Creek Park had over 18,000 rally goers and this NO KINGS 3.0 we expect to double that amount of attendees. The No Kings 3.0 Rally is THIS WEEKEND Saturday, March 28th and we need many IKC volunteers to help make this a successful event.
