03/18/24 Missouri Mondays - It’s Spring Break for MOLeg! Early Voting begins Tues Mar 19 for April 2 Election! MO Dem Presidential Primary is Sat March 23! Your vote is your voice! Make it count!

It’s spring break for the Missouri Legislature this week after eleven weeks down and eight to go in the regular session. House Democrats held a press conference providing a review of the highlights and frustrations thus far and fielded questions about what to expect in the remaining weeks.

What the GOP majority is focused on:

  • Imposing unconstitutional restrictions to impede the initiative petition process

  • Eliminating state corporate income taxes blowing another $880 million dollar hole in the state’s budget on top of the $2 billion in tax cuts passed 18 months ago

  • Weakening local school districts

  • Trying to strip funding from one of the states largest providers of women’s health care services.

  • Culture war nonsense taking up valuable committee time but hasn’t yet made it to the floor such as banning efforts to make our society more diverse and inclusive

  • Using the force law to demonize people who just want to live their lives as who they are

  • Charging women with murder who access abortion

  • Making teachers registered sex offenders for using a child’s preferred name

The issues the Republican majority chooses to prioritize might help politicians win a GOP primary but they are NOT going to help Missouri families put food on the table, strengthen our public schools or keep our families safe.
