URGENT! ACT NOW! - STATEWIDE

🚨TAKE ACTION!

📣 TELL YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE–NO SALES TAXES ON EVERYTHING!

❌ VOTE NO! on HCS HJRs 173 & 174!

🔎Find your legislator here:  https://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/Default

🚩HCS HJRs 173 & 174 PASSED IN THE SENATE WITH CHANGES & NOW IT IS BACK IN THE HOUSE

🚩The proposal is to PHASE OUT the state’s individual income tax and REPLACE REVENUE by expanding the sales tax base!  Raising taxes ON EVERYTHING!

‼️ This scheme will expand sales taxes. To offset the loss of income tax revenue, lawmakers would be authorized to tax more services and digital goods (e.g., streaming services, accounting fees) that are currently exempt.

❌Raising revenue by sales tax is REGRESSIVE because it especially burdens those with less income and least able to afford the higher cost.

❌ Costs will rise and living will be $$MORE EXPENSIVE for nearly ALL Missourians.

🗳️SPREAD THE WORD TO VOTE NO! If passed by the legislature, the plan would go before voters on the August or November 2026 ballot. Educate your friends, family, and neighbors!

📣 TAKE ACTION! Tell Denny Hoskins to Certify our Referendum!

Preliminary data from the Missouri Secretary of State's office confirms that a sufficient number of signatures were collected, in every required congressional district, to put the People Not Politicians referendum on the November ballot.  Secretary of State Denny Hoskins knows we have the signatures to qualify. Precedent shows that once a referendum or petition has reached the required number of verified signatures in each of the required districts, the SOS immediately certifies it. Hoskins is trying to find ways to delay our referendum. But his delays aren't protocol, he's playing a political game. Missouri voters will have the final say on politicians' gerrymandered congressional district map whether Hoskins likes it or not.

ABORTION ACTION MO APRIL KC BASE MEETING (Rescheduled)

Wednesday, April 22

6:00pm – 7:30pm

Central Presbyterian Church

3501 Campbell St.

Kansas City, MO  64109

RSVP:

In 2024 we became the first state to end a total abortion ban at the ballot box, but how did we get there in the first place? And what does abortion access look like right now, as we organize to stop another abortion ban at the ballot later this year? Join the Kansas City base meeting to cut through the confusion and get clear about how we got here, what is at stake, and what it will take to win.

With last month’s Emergency Meeting, Kansas City has shown we have a strong, growing community ready to mobilize for Missourians’ values. Now, our rescheduled Kansas City base meeting is a critical touch point to remind us of how we won in 2024 and how to defeat the abortion ban that MO State Rep. John Patterson is forcing us to vote on later this year.

📣 RESPECT MISSOURI VOTERS

WHO WE ARE - Respect Missouri Voters is a grassroots, volunteer-led campaign working to protect the citizen initiative process and make our government work for everyday Missourians. Our goal is straightforward but vital - pass a state constitutional amendment to protect majority rule in Missouri.  Join our campaign to pass a ballot initiative for a state constitutional amendment that will BAN politicians from:

  • ❌ Overturning initiatives that voters have already passed

  • ❌ Attacking citizens' ability to use the initiative process

  • ❌ Deceiving voters with confusing ballot language

📅  The Missouri Secretary of State’s MAY 3 petition turn-in deadline is fixed.

‼️ April 19, marks a big milestone in our campaign: the internal deadline for volunteer gatherers to turn in signatures at a notary event. As we complete the final stages of processing and verifying every single petition, we know there are still many signatures out there in the community. We cannot leave a single name on the table.

To close this gap, our focus for the coming week is simple: Phone Banking!  We are launching an effort to call each and every gatherer to ensure every signature on every petition sheet gets notarized and turned into the campaign.
