12/20/21 - Missouri Mondays - Thank YOU for taking action and making a difference this year!

Wishing you safe and Happy Holidays!

It has been another challenging year. Our rights and our democracy are under attack right here in Missouri and across the nation. That is why we are so grateful that you stay informed with us and fight back with ACTION! Together we make a difference!

This is our last Missouri Mondays for 2021. We wish you safe and Happy Holidays and we will be back with another Missouri Mondays CALL TO ACTION in January!

Here’s what you can do to make a difference over the break!

TAKE ACTION WITH THE MISSOURI VOTER PROTECTION COALITION (MOVPC)

TO PROTECT THE RIGHT TO VOTE

Missouri lawmakers have prefiled more than 300 bills for the upcoming 2022 session and using false claims of voter fraud the GOP majority will try again to pass restrictive photo ID laws, make the initiative petition process harder, reduce or eliminate voting by mail, and other laws supressing our vote and our voice!

Help protect the right to vote in Missouri with the Missouri Voter Protection Coalition! The Missouri Voter Protection Coalition (MOVPC) is a nonpartisan statewide network working to protect the right to vote in Missouri, promoting access to the ballot and working to remove barriers to voting.

MISSOURI TREASURER SCOTT FITZPATRICK THREATENS TO HOLD UP MONEY SAVING BOND DEALS FOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS UNLESS THEY DROP COVID PRECAUTIONS AS INSTRUCTED BY AG ERIC SCHMITT

“Missouri Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick says he will not sign off on money-saving bond deals with school districts unless they drop their COVID-19 health precautions. The warning comes after Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt sent letters on Dec. 7 to health authorities and school districts across the state, informing them that enforcing mask mandates and quarantine orders violated a ruling by Cole County Circuit Judge Daniel R. Green last month. The judge ruled that public health orders issued by local health departments violate the state’s Constitution.” “Now, some school districts have been told that their bond deals will be held up unless their superintendents sign documentation certifying that they are compliant with Schmitt's directive.”

“The Lone Jack, Hannibal and North Platte County school districts also received notices that they need to sign compliance documents ahead of their bond deals closing.” By refinancing it’s bonds the Warren School District would save $768,857 and the North Platte County School District would save around $980,000. Superintendent Karl Matt said “the funds allow his district to make renovations and pay off building projects, including a new middle school built in 2018 and repairing roofs, more quickly and without raising costs for taxpayers. “It just makes it longer before we can do those repairs if we were not to sign off on that, if that was a really legitimate legal thing that he can do.”

Both Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick and AG Eric Schmitt are running for other offices in 2022. Fitzpatrick will be running for Missouri auditor and Schmitt for Roy Blunt’s U.S. Senate seat.

TELL TREASURER SCOTT FITZPATRICK AND AG ERIC SCHMITT TO STOP ATTACKING OUR PUBLIC HEALTH AND EDUCATION SYSTEM AND PLAYING POLITICS WITH MISSOURI LIVES!

The Senate is in recess until January but we need to keep the pressure up over the break! This is a decisive moment for our nation and the time has never been more urgent to take action to protect voting rights. It’s time for our Senators to step up and fight to protect our fundamental rights and do whatever it takes to pass these critical bills!

LEAVE MESSAGES FOR SENATORS BLUNT AND HAWLEY TO PASS BOTH BILLS! 1-888-453-3211

Call Missouri Senators Blunt and Hawley at 1-888-453-3211 and tell them to Pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to Ensure Voting Rights! We must ensure voting rights for all and put an end to voting discrimination–waiting in line for 8 hours to vote, closed polling places, strict voter ID laws, English-only ballots, and more!

LEAVE MESSAGES FOR THE WHITE HOUSE 1-888-724-8746

President Biden said we’re facing “the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War.” We need him to exert his influence to get the Senate to act.

Urge President Biden to do everything in his power to help overcome the filibuster and pass the Freedom to Vote Act & John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

FREEDOM IS FOR EVERYBODY! CODIFY ABORTION RIGHTS WITH THE WOMEN’S HEALTH PROTECTION ACT!

“With the Supreme Court expected to uphold a restrictive Mississippi abortion law — and possibly overturn a landmark Roe v. Wade ruling — it’s time to codify abortion rights, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) says. “The best way to do it is not a patchwork of state laws, but to ...codify Roe v. Wade, put it into law.” and the Women’s Health Protection Act would do that, according to Sen. Klobuchar.

https://www.aol.com/time-codify-roe-v-wade-230011638.html

The Women’s Health Protection Act (H.R. 3755/S. 1975) would protect the federal right to abortion and would block the barrage of state bans and restrictions on abortion intended to impede or outright deny access. The bill would protect a person’s freedom to make decisions about their own reproductive health care and a health care provider’s ability to provide the full range of reproductive health services, including abortion. HELP WOMEN IN TEXAS BY MAKING A DONATION TO “FUND TEXAS CHOICE”

Every day since September 1, people across Texas have discovered that they're pregnant...and under the new law, already too late to stop it.

No one should be forced to carry a pregnancy and give birth against their will.

Right now, your generosity is the only way for low-income people across Texas to retain their right to control their own lives. Your gift enables them to travel out of state for abortion care.

Please make a gift right now! DONATE HERE: https://fundtexaschoice.org/donate/
