11/11/19 - Missouri Mondays - Missouri, Show Me Your Support for Homeless Veterans!

“On a single night in January 2018, just over 37,800 Veterans were experiencing homelessness. On the same night, just over 23,300 of the Veterans counted were unsheltered or living on the street.” US Dept. of Veterans Affairs
Despite promises of health care, housing, employment and educational assistance upon return from service, Veterans face numerous challenges and many are unable to secure healthcare, jobs or housing. These issues are made even worse depending upon where they live. For example, out of the 100 largest U.S. cities researched by WalletHub, St. Louis is ranked one of the worst at #98 for the percentage of Veterans living in poverty. WalletHub 2019’s Best & Worst Places for Veterans to Live This is unacceptable!
On this Veterans Day, let’s make sure our Veterans have the resources they were promised and deserve! Donate or volunteer your time to help Veterans organizations such as the Veterans Community Project in Kansas City providing transitional housing and a whole host of services for homeless Veterans. Earlier this year Veterans Community Project announced the exciting news that Jason Kander would be leading their effort to expand to other locations with the goal of eliminating Veteran homelessness nationwide.
