You need to wear a mask and socially distance.” This is what White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx said last week in Jefferson City while unelected and unmasked Governor Parson looked on. Parson’s total allegiance to the President and dangerous lack of leadership has already cost lives and the pandemic is far from over!

Voting in Missouri is about as complicated and confusing as it could possibly be. Last week ICYMI on Facebook we shared a post from MO State Representative Peter Meredith with helpful and very detailed voting information.
One of the key points he made is: VOTE IN PERSON IF YOU CAN!
Excerpt from MO State Rep. Meredith’s post Aug 16:
“I’m seeing a lot of incorrect information going around this weekend about mail-in voting in MO. There are differences between “absentee” and “mail-in” voting in MO, and a whole lot of intentional hurdles in the law to confuse people and make it harder for folks to vote, including that people CANNOT simply drop off “mail-in” ballots instead of mailing them. Please be careful sharing info on voting that may be incorrect.
So here’s my (much more than) two cents on how to vote FWIW:
OPTION 1: VOTE IN PERSON

Voting in person doesn’t rely on mail, or risk multiple steps of potential delays or missing information that invalidates a ballot. You can certainly vote in person on Election Day your usual way. Just wear a mask and make time in case there is a line.
If you feel unsafe voting on Election Day or are concerned you’ll be unavailable to vote, the best alternative is to vote absentee in person early. You don’t have to request anything in advance, you don’t have to worry about finding a notary, and you can check whichever excuse best fits your situation, including religious belief, expected absence on voting day, confinement due to illness, among others. You do this at your local county election authority, and it feels much like voting on Election Day, but with less or no line or crowd.”
