06/10/19 - Missouri Mondays - NO STATE SANCTIONED SEXUAL ASSAULT!

The battle for safe, legal abortion access in Missouri continues as women face what has been labeled “state sanctioned sexual assault.” Women in Missouri must now endure an invasive and medically unnecessary pelvic exam at least 72 hours before an abortion.  Dr. David Eisenberg, a physician at Missouri’s last remaining facility that provides abortions laments that he must participate in this invasive, unnecessary procedure, saying “What I realized was I effectively have become an instrument of state abuse of power.” The only purpose behind the exam is to discourage women from getting an abortion through intimidation and humiliation.

We must fight back!! Take action now by telling Gov. Parson to demand the resignation of Randall Williams, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Director appointed by disgraced former Gov. Eric Greitens.  Dr. Williams is responsible for the rule mandating the cruel and medically unnecessary pelvic exam weaponizing state regulations in an attempt to directly shut down Missouri’s last remaining abortion provider. Call Gov. Parson at (573) 751-3222 and sign the ProgressWomen petition telling the Governor to demand Williams’ immediate resignation. Health and safety regulations must not be politicized and used to abuse and intimidate those seeking a legal abortion.  

We also ask you to please support the American Civil Liberty Union of Missouri (ACLU-MO) in their fight against the abortion bans including their lawsuit against Missouri Secretary of State John Ashcroft who has refused to certify two ballot initiatives that would let the people of Missouri decide if women had the human right to a safe, legal abortion. ACLU-MO calls Ashcroft’s action a “sad and cynical ploy” and adds, “We will see you in court.” Support their efforts by making a donation HERE.
