04/15/19 - Missouri Mondays - Tell your State Rep. to vote NO! on reckless tax proposal HB 548!

Our thanks to Project 28 MO for a great day at the Capitol last week lobbying our legislators to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment!  It’s not too late to tell your legislators to vote YES! on Senate Concurrent Resolution SCR 7 sponsored by Sen. Jill Schupp and House Concurrent Resolution HCR 12 sponsored by Rep. Judy Morgan.  Only one more state needs to ratify the amendment and Project 28 MO would like Missouri to make that historic leap! You can find more information about the ERA and why it’s so important HERE

For this week’s Missouri Monday, we ask that you make your voice heard and tell your State Rep. to vote NO! on reckless tax proposal House Committee Substitute for HB 548! This bill threatens to destabilize the budget and take money from education, roads and bridges, and the safety net to pay for tax cuts for the wealthiest Missourians. It would cut $74 million in just the first year after implementation. Although the bill proposes to allow Missouri to collect sales taxes for online purchases, it would also cut taxes by 0.14% on the top tax rate the first year with additional cuts in subsequent years, diverting revenue from vital needs and services. The bill would also limit cities and counties in their ability to collect online taxes. While the state does need to collect online sales taxes, this is not the right fix! Go to the Missouri Budget Project website for more information.

This bill has already been perfected and is now in line for House passage. Tell your Representative to VOTE NO on passage of HB 548!

THANK YOU! for answering the Missouri Mondays CALL TO ACTION!
