02/01/21 - Missouri Mondays - What Gov Parson didn’t say about the State of the State / Actions to

Governor Parson insisted on an in person State of the State address on Jan 27 despite a covid outbreak shutting down the House the week before and additional lawmakers testing positive and others isolating after exposure in the Capitol to someone infected. Parson and the GOP majority continue to play a dangerous game of ignoring even their own covid safety recommendations by refusing a mask mandate in the Capitol putting everyone at risk of the deadly virus.
What the Governor didn’t say about State of the State
Missouri ranked 50th in delivering the first dose COVID-19 vaccine to only 4% of our population of 6 million as of reporting on Jan 26.
The health department for Missouri’s second largest county by population, Jackson County, received zero vaccines last week from the state. Over 130,000 have responded to their vaccine interest survey including over 60,000 who are high-risk.
Instead of letting CVS and Walgreen’s pharmacies immediately administer their extra vaccine from their locations, Parson’s administration is diverting the doses to state coordinated mass vaccination sites.
Public health officials in Missouri and Kansas are concerned about the spread of more contagious variants of coronavirus to our states and the longer the vaccine rollout takes, more lives are at risk.
MO House Health and Mental Health Policy Committee had a meeting scheduled last week with Dr. Randall Williams, Director of MO Dept. of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) and also with the MO COVID team but without explanation the meeting was cancelled.
We deserve answers! Take action!
Tell MO House Health and Mental Health Policy Committee Chair, Rep. Mike Stephens to make sure DHSS Director Williams appears before this committee to answer questions about Missouri’s failure to roll out the COVID vaccine and what steps will be taken for improvement to protect and save Missouri lives!
