01/06/20 - Missouri Mondays - A New Year and a New Legislative Session. Time for action!

“Not to Be Served But to Serve” - MO State Capitol Senate chamber entrance

It’s time for our first Missouri Mondays of 2020!  The Missouri legislative session starts this Wednesday, January 8 but hundreds of bills have already been pre-filed that once again curtail our freedoms, ignore or do harm to our most vulnerable citizens, skew prosperity toward corporations and the wealthy, further deny women control of their own bodies, and dangerously expand guns everywhere.  We also know the Missouri GOP plans to make overturning parts of Clean Missouri government reforms a top priority (KCStar Dec 30, 2019).  “We will move on it very quickly,” Missouri House Speaker Elijah Haahr told The Star. State Rep. Curtis Trent, a Springfield Republican, has pre-filed a resolution that would put partial repeal of the amendment on the 2020 ballot. State Sen. Bill Eigel, a Republican from Weldon Spring, has filed a similar proposal.”

This is unacceptable! We must stand up and make our voices heard!

To find contact information for your state senator and state representative go to https://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/default.aspx and enter your street address.  Signing up for your legislators newsletters is another great way to keep in touch and stay informed on state legislature.

We will keep you updated on bills that need your attention in our Missouri Mondays Calls to Action. To see the list of pre-filed bills go to the House and Senate bill lists, or view bills by subject on the House Subject List, and the Senate Subject  list.

We hope you will continue to stand with us in the coming months as we work

together to hold our elected officials accountable! As it is inscribed in our state capitol over the Senate chamber entrance,  “Not to be served, but to serve”.

THANK YOU! for answering the Missouri Mondays CALL TO ACTION!
